Freedom struggle of India
The freedom struggle of our country India refers to the period where our diligent and honest freedom fighters fought and laid their lives for us during the battle against the British in the previous era. The actual struggle and fights started in the late 19th century and ended at 1947. Mahatma Gandhi (Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi) was one of the prominent leaders who died his heart fighting the battle until Nathruam godse allegedly killed him.
Not only Mahatma Gandhi, there were other notable figures like Jawaharlal Nehru, Subhash Chandra Bose, Sardar patel etc fought relentlessly for the battle to gain independence from the opposition. Due to his contribution, Gandhi was popularly known as “ The father of the nation” particularly for taking charge of the non-violent civil disobedience movement.
Several incidents were followed by the above one like numerous amount of protests, Non-Cooperation movement (1920–1922), the Salt March (1930) and the infamous Quit India movement which occurred in 1942. Many leaders were also arrested and put in jail due to various actions.
Despite the challenges it faced ahead, it continued to gain momentum till the 1940’s. Because of the pressure from the higher officials of the international and Indian community, they had to call off and India finally gained freedom in 1947. Later, the entire country was firmly divided into two parts i.e India and Pakistan. India became a multi cultural country where it consisted of several religions and states like Hindus, Muslims and Christians whereas Pakistan consisted mainly of the Muslims.
The struggle was a very long, disastrous and a difficult one to process. Not only men but women like Rani Lakshmi bhai and others laid their lives by fighting and writing poems and poetry which inspired and motivated every citizen of the country. This phase of struggle was a turning point for the country and a lot of changes and reforms took place post-independence era.
To conclude, the struggle was fought by Indians for about 200 years against the British colonial rule. The independence in 1947 embarked a new era and pahse of economy, culture, happiness and peace.
